Loud college kids who party late into the night or a neighbor who loves to set up tin cans for target practice may be off putting to certain buyers.

You can’t make them move out, as much as you wish you could.

Sometimes, economic circumstances can have a negative effect on a neighborhood.

The homes in low income towns often go unmaintained for long periods of time. People are more concerned with feeding their families and keeping their lights on, and hiring a landscaping service moves further down their priority list.

Unless you can pay to repair the homes of your neighbors, there’s not much you can do.

The neighborhood counts for a lot.

A lot of buyers are unwilling to entertain the notion of moving into a neighborhood that won’t complement their lifestyle. It’s possible to find a buyer that will, but it could take a long time.

If you don’t want to hold onto your home while you’re waiting, you can sell it to someone who is willing to do the waiting on your behalf.

You’ve probably considered making these repairs to your home, and saw what the estimates came out to be. They’re expensive, and you’ll need to pay those costs out of your own pocket. Not everyone has the luxury of being able to do that, and many people have to sell their homes as they are.

There are plenty of as-is buyers, but most of them aren’t seeking the help of a real estate agent to locate properties that need a little TLC. When your home is subject to some exceptional circumstances, you’ll need to look outside the box to find an ideal buyer.

It’s a game of Keeping up With the Joneses that becomes very expensive – and not all of those expenses translate to a return on your investment.

Spending a bunch of money to make your property more competitive can prove to be a gamble.

In the end, it’s possible to lose big. If you spend fifteen grand on a kitchen remodel that only boosts the value of your home by eight grand, you’ll be taking a substantial loss. If you don’t want to play this game, you don’t have to.

Sell your home to someone who wants to renovate it. Some people purchase homes for their potential, rather than what they already are.

Those buyers are few and far between on the traditional market, but exploring new avenues can lead you right to them.
